The Future of Technology

I did not get a chance to read this article, I do not have a book and I went to the library to check it out, but it was not there. So therefore, I could not tell you if it helps us predict the future of computers in education.
Some lessons that I have learned is that if you are going to use something with technology, gather the information first about it and try to learn as much of it as you can.

WebQuest Project

For the WebQuest (WQ) project, Sylwester and I worked together. We made a WQ project about How to Use Picassa and it's basic function. We used SeaMonkey to make our WB. Sylwester understood how use SeaMonkey the most, so he did most of the putting together the project. We had to research Picassa, find picture, links and more.
The title of the Webquest is "Freeware use in art class- Picasa Picture Editor." This project is designed for 9th graders. We taught the students the basic fixes of Picasa. It teaches the student how to crop, straighten, take red eye out of photos, and a couple other different features. I learned a lot from working with my partner. He was fun, I enjoyed getting to know him. That is what I liked best about this project. I also learned something knew about Picasa, this was my first time every using the software and i liked it, and I learned more about SeaMonkey. All-in-All, this was a fun project but very time consuming. :)

Teacher Support Tools

The teacher support tool that I chose was Grade Books. Teachers can either use pencil-and-paper grade book, use a spreadsheet, or use an electronic grade book. The pencil-and-paper grade book is the most difficult and time consuming source to use. You have to do calculations and copy data by hand. A spreadsheet grade book is more difficult to use than an electronic grade book. The spreadsheet grade book takes longer to set up. The electronic grade book allows you to quickly print reports, generate graphs, create seating charts and track attendance.

Lesson Plan

I selected this topic of cardiorespitory endurance because I am a Physical Education major and I think it is a good concept to know. This lesson plan will help me in the future because I will already have it done and I know I will be doing a lesson on Cardiorespitory Endurance.

Objectives:

Cognitive: The students will discuss the importance of cardiorespiratory endurance and understand the training principles of it.

Psychomotor: The students will show and demonstrate some training principles of cardiorespiratory endurance.

Affective: Students will get with a partner; they will work out together and give each other positive feedback on the way they are doing their workout.

TEKS:

MATERIALS:

Gymnasium, student notes and themselves

PROCEDURES:

Introduction: The students will take their heart rate before any kind of workout. They will find out their maximal heart rate. The students will run around the gym 2 times and stretch afterwards. I will then explain what we are going to be going over in the lesson.

Activities: We will discuss the definition of cardiorespiratory endurance. Discuss in words, training for cardiorespiratory endurance. I will discuss the FITT principle to them. The students are going to speed walk around the basketball court 2 times and then take their heart rate again. The students will compare the difference from the beginning of the lesson to after working out a bit.

Closure: The students will stretch out on their own and I will be asking the students questions about the FITT principle, ways they can improve their cardiorespiratory endurance and the importance of it.

Eric's Presentation

Eric was the only one that was left to do his presentation and he did his today. I liked it because it was an overview of technology in the classroom. It was not directed toward any subject. I enjoyed learning a little bit about dynovox (abc check) that he talked about. All in all, it was a good presentation!!!
